Misbehave
As anyone who has watched this video will notice, there is an inordinate amount of humping going
on in this video. Ledges, stairs, gaps, walls, rails, wrecks, boards, fences, garbage cans...everything
gets humped. Hell, Caleb and Dan even go so far as to conduct an interview with a homeless dude
pickin' trash about humping everything. This oddity exists because the original idea for the video
was to have the title be Hump Everything. However, once we started watching the footage to start
editing, we realized that we didn't have nearly enough humping footy to actually title the whole video
Hump Everything. Instead, after watching the footage and noticing a general trend toward mischief
in this one, we decided on Misbehave. The four gun-toting shadows on the car at the beginning are
Andy, Derek, Dan, and Caleb. That was at like 3 in the morning. It was so fun to be standing on my car
with my friends, all of us holding various plastic guns, at 3 in the morning. Classic. The song at the
beginning worked out as such a good intro song. Speaking of which, one of the things that is immediately
noticeable is the fact that there is an intro. The video ushered in the new era of sections for the first
time. There is an intro, Caleb, Dan, Derek, and Andy's section, followed by a wreck section, and finally
there's a bunch of great extra footage under the spoken credits and after as well. Along with sections
comes a soundtrack that is separated into various sections as well. The shit I can remember (in no
particular order) is "O Fortuna," Busta Rhymes, Overcome, Jefferson Airplane, Screeching Weasel, "Lights
Out," Reel Big Fish, Chalice, Social Distortion, Lord Have Mercy, Innermeans, and Hatebreed. This video
came in the transition of our collective general interest in punk/ska to hardcore/hiphop. One of the
highlights in this video is definitely the 30 second kitten fight. Others include: all the humping; 10-set
ollie; Derek's first adventures into the world of rail destruction; seeing the old HCS setup(s); Caleb's
hardhat sesh; the doubletime running; the intro came out real good; lots more street skating and street
spots; all the nonsense spread throughout the video (there's some good shit in here); the ice and puke
drop; the intro to Dan's section; and last, but not least, the funbox-on-fire and smashed computer sesh.
When we were collecting footage for this video I got my senior license and was able to drive more so we
hit the road on a few road trips (mainly Johnstown and Jersey), which helped our footage be a lot more filled
out for this one. We also drove around the Binghamton area a lot more hitting more spots and scouting ones
we'd never seen before. There's some out of town park skating, but nothing stunning. I guess that's it.
Watching this video over again, I decided that it's one of the ones I like more. There's lots of skating,
lots of nonsense, lots of wreckin', lots of thrashin', lots of bro-in' down. It's real fun to watch. While
I was watching it my friend Marco called and invited me to skate. My leg was hurting and I was tired from
work, but the video psyched me up so much to skate that I broke out right then. I met them at the ledge in
the Strip and followed them to some expensive and too small park out by the airport. None of our crew of
4 was going to pay or wear helmets to skate, so we snuck in and skated without helmets. It was too crowded,
but I managed (in my psyched up state) to hit my leg so hard with my board that it made me bleed, even
though I had a pair of thick jeans and an ace bandage on. I also hit my knee in the same fall and got my
very first swell-nee. Since I've never had swell-bow before, this was doubly special. See what this video
can do? If you get ahold of it, maybe it can make you hurt like I hurt right now. Lates. Oh yeah, this
was the first and only video we ever tried to make a cover for. It came out good, but was way too much
money and hassle to worry about doing again. Shit just wasn't worth it.
